Announcing new Professional Series ATEX Battery for Use on Both Black and Blue Radios

Until now, “phase 1” (black) and “phase 2” (blue) Professional Series ATEX radios have used different batteries. However, we have now produced and certified a new battery that can be used on both families. This will make managing mixed black and blue ATEX fleets much easier since the new battery can be used on all GP Professional Series ATEX radios.

We have continued to supply the black radios until the full range of blue radios and associated accessories are available and certified. With the certification of the shared ATEX battery, this is now complete, and we will be cancelling the black radios in May.

Two new ranges of ATEX approved radios have been developed by Vertex Standard, that meet the stringent requirements of the ATEX (ATmospheres EXplosibles) framework - a set of directives now mandatory across all EU member states and EFTA countries, that relate to the control of explosive atmospheres and the equipment used in them.
The VX-820 ATEX and VX-920 ATEX Series are Intrinsically Safe and certified to meet ATEX approval specifications for gas protection to use in explosive hazardous settings. All radios are:
- IP57 submersible to one metre for 30 minutes
- Approved for ATEX II 2G Ex ib IIC T4
